Same State.
Different Story.
The Holler Herald is West Virginia’s least reliable news source—covering the stories that could happen, probably shouldn’t happen and may already be happening somewhere past the county line.
What We Do
We publish original satire inspired by West Virginia life: unpredictable weather, suspicious wildlife sightings, county meetings, potholes, football-induced emotional damage and the people who know exactly what they saw.
Our goal is simple: make West Virginians laugh at the things only West Virginians truly understand—without treating the state or its people like the joke.
Meet the Newsroom
Our correspondents include Earl “Radar” Mullins, who forecasts weather using radar, woolly worms and his left knee; Dale Hatfield, who has never met an animal he couldn’t incorrectly estimate the weight of; and a rotating collection of reporters, porch correspondents and government-desk employees trying to determine what the county commission just voted on.
They work tirelessly to bring you all the news that’s fit to holler about—and several stories that probably aren’t.
Yes, It’s Satire
The Holler Herald is a satirical publication. Its articles are fictional, exaggerated or written for comedic purposes. Names, characters, quotations and events may be invented. References to public places, institutions or familiar West Virginia experiences do not mean the events described actually occurred.
We are not affiliated with any government agency, political party, university, athletic program or traditional news organization.
