This Privacy Policy explains how The Holler Herald (“we,” “us” or “the Site”) handles information when you visit or use this website. We try to collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary to operate the Site.

When you visit the Site, our hosting and security providers may automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, referring page, approximate location derived from an IP address, timestamps and diagnostic or security logs. This information is used to deliver the Site, maintain security, prevent abuse and troubleshoot technical problems.
Information You Choose to Provide
When you use our contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide, which may include your name, email address, topic, subject, message and an optional image attachment. This information is used to review and respond to your message, evaluate submitted tips or corrections and handle advertising or partnership inquiries.
Contact-form submissions are processed by our form-delivery and email providers so they can be delivered to the newsroom. Please do not submit sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your message.
Authorized newsroom users may provide account-identification information through the Site’s sign-in provider and may submit article text, images and related publication information. That information is used to authenticate newsroom access and operate the publishing tools.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The public-facing Site does not currently use advertising cookies or intentionally place nonessential analytics cookies. We use browser session storage to count one aggregate Site visit per browser session and one aggregate read per article during that session. These counters do not store your name, email address or IP address. Essential cookies or similar technologies may also be used by hosting or authentication services to provide security, maintain a signed-in newsroom session or support core website functions. Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies or site storage, although doing so can prevent some protected features from working.

Article Sharing and External Links
Article pages include sharing options for services such as Facebook and X. Selecting one of these options sends you to that third party, which handles information under its own privacy policy. The Site may also link to other websites we do not control. Review their policies before providing personal information.
Data Retention and Security
Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including security, publishing, legal and operational needs. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the public Site.
Your Choices
